There’s no gas pot like modern ones, instead they have wood fired cooking hearth (Chulha) which are covered with wet red mud (Geru). It also keeps the surface cool. Also utensils are also covered with wet mud from outside. The cooked food in these mud chulha taste really great and with a pint of ancient village cooked food. Most village people have both the modern ones and the old chulha like these so they can have the taste of both.

Conifer Pine Trees
There are lot of pine trees (Cheed Ke Pedh) spread throughout Uttarakhand. Earlier people use to cut lot of trees as a result it got depleted. Now government has enforced ban on cutting trees. But still people cut the branches. Hence you'll see that such tree stand tall with bare legs and greenery only in upper part where as such trees look beautiful when there are full from top to bottom.
This is the cone of the pine tree. It is used for arts and crafts. Can also act as weather indicator. It is used as fire starters as it burns quickly. The leaves of this tree are thin and long and when they dry up they are very slippery, hence one has to be careful while walking on dried pine leaves (Piraul).
